Marlies Schild wins fourth slalom
ZAGREB, Croatia -- Marlies Schild won her fourth World Cup slalom title of the season.
The Austrian had a flawless second run Tuesday to finish in a combined time of 2 minutes, 1.80 seconds. Maria Riesch of Germany trailed by 0.75 seconds. Manuela Moelgg of Italy was third.
Riesch extended her lead over American Lindsey Vonn in the overall standings to 186 points. The defending champion Vonn skied off course in foggy conditions in the opening run.
Vonn was 1.62 seconds behind when she lost balance on a right turn and slid off course. The defending overall champion also went out in previous slaloms in Courchevel, France, and Semmering, Austria.
