Maria Riesch pulls out of team event
GARMISCH-PARTENKIRCHEN, Germany -- World Cup leader Maria Riesch of Germany has pulled out of the team event at the world championships.
Riesch won bronze medals in the super-G and downhill despite battling the flu but decided to skip Wednesday's competition to rest for the upcoming giant slalom and slalom events.
Riesch's decision Tuesday came a day after her friend and rival Lindsey Vonn of the United States cut short her championships to take care of a lingering head injury.
