Coach says translations inaccurate
ATHENS, Greece -- The coach of the Serbia-Montenegro basketball team has been told to respect Olympic guidelines and avoid further outbursts.
Zeljko Obradovic stormed out of a news conference Sunday after his team's 83-82 loss to Argentina. Obradovic berated a a volunteer translator and said he did not want to speak because his words were not being translated correctly into English.
Although multilingual, Obradovic insisted on speaking in Serbian.
FIBA, the international basketball federation, sent a letter Monday expressing its dissatisfaction with Obradovic's behavior.
"The delegation of Serbia-Montenegro was asked to cooperate at full extent for the rest of the Olympic tournament,'' the letter said.
