China settles for 2nd, 3rd
ATHENS, Greece -- Ryu Seung-min beat China's Wang Hao in six games, becoming the first South Korean to win the men's table tennis gold medal since 1988.
Ryu, ranked third in the world, won 11-3, 9-11, 11-9, 11-9, 11-13, 11-9.
World No. 1 Wang Liqin of China won the bronze, defeating Swede Jan-Ove Waldner.
China had won the previous two Olympic gold medals in men's singles. South Korean Yoo Nam-kyu won at Seoul in 1988, the first year the sport was held.
