Powell, world's fastest man, wins first 400-meter race
KINGSTON, Jamaica -- World 100-meter record-holder Asafa Powell raced to his first victory in the 400 meters Saturday, finishing in 47.17 seconds in the University of West Indies Invitational at the National Stadium.
Powell improved on his personal best of 47.46, set in his last outing at the Queen's/Grace Jackson Invitational at the same venue on Jan. 27.
Sherone Simpson won the women's race in 52.65, also a personal best.
