Cole wins long jump at Texas Relays
AUSTIN, Texas -- Cal-State Northridge freshman Reindell Cole, the defending indoor champion, won the long jump Friday at the Texas Relays.
Cole won with a wind-aided leap of 26 feet, 3/4 inches on his second attempt to finish well ahead of Louisville junior Andre Black (25-3 1/4).
In the men's discus, Liberty's Clendon Henderson won at 204-3.
In the women's field events, Cal-Poly's Sharon Day won the high juxmp at 5-8 3/4, and Texas Tech's D'Andra Carter took the discus at 181-3.
In the running events, Festus Kigen of TCU won the men's 1,500 meters in 3 minutes, 50.30 seconds. Abilene Christian's Winrose Karunde won the women's 3,000 steeplechase in 10:29.81, and Texas El-Paso's Patrick Mutai took the men's steeplechase in 8:52.62.
