U.S. medalist Wariner wins at Osaka
OSAKA, Japan -- Olympic medalist Jeremy Wariner has won the men's 400 meters on Saturday at the Osaka Grand Prix.
The American clocked a time of 44.69 to finish comfortably ahead of Japan's Yuzo Kanemaru, who was second in 45.16. Australia's Sean Wroe took third place with a time of 45.32.
Wariner, a three-time Olympic track gold medalist, was looking forward to defending his title at the world championships in Berlin in August. He took silver in the 400 in last year's Beijing Olympics.
"My legs were a bit tight but I ran a good race today," Wariner said. "Berlin is a long way away but I'm confident I can defend my title."
