Goucher to head team at worlds
INDIANAPOLIS -- Kara Goucher heads the U.S. women's marathon team that will compete at the world championships at Berlin in August.
Goucher, of Portland, Ore., earned her spot by finishing third at the New York City Marathon in November in 2 hours, 25 minutes, 53 seconds.
Also members of the team announced Tuesday by USA Track & Field are Desiree Davila of Rochester Hills, Mich.; Paige Higgins of Flagstaff, Ariz.; Zoila Gomez of Alamosa, Colo.; and Tera Moody of Colorado Springs, Colo.
Goucher was the first American to finish among the top three women in New York since 1994.
At last year's U.S. Olympic track and field trials, she won the 5,000 meters and was second in the 10,000.
