Sandra Perkovic fails doping test
ZAGREB, Croatia -- European women's discus champion Sandra Perkovic of Croatia has tested positive for a banned stimulant and faces a two-year ban.
Her club Dinamo Zrinjevac said Sunday the 21-year-old Perkovic tested positive for methylhexanamine after last month's Diamond League meetings in Rome and Shanghai.
Dinamo says Perkovic claimed to be ignorant that methylhexanamine was part of another substance she was using to increase muscle mass.
Perkovic could miss the world championships in South Korea and the 2012 London Olympics.
She won the European title in Barcelona in 2010 with a final throw of 64.67 meters. Her best throw of 69.99 was earlier this year.
