Augustus taken to hospital for CT scan after fall
DURHAM, N.C. -- Seimone Augustus, the WNBA's rookie of the year, was taken to the hospital Tuesday after hitting her head on the court during the first day of training camp for the United States women's world championship team.
Augustus took a charge during a defensive drill and hit her head on the Cameron Indoor Stadium court, U.S. assistant coach Gail Goestenkors said. Augustus complained of pain in her neck and head before being taken for a precautionary CT scan, said Caroline Williams, director of communications for USA Basketball.
Augustus, the former LSU star who averaged 22 points for the Minnesota Lynx, is listed as day-to-day.
The U.S. team will play in the FIBA World Championship in San Paulo, Brazil, from Sept. 12-23.
