Associated Press

PROVO, Utah -- Tatiana Burina scored twice in the first period Tuesday night and Russia went on to defeat Germany 5-0 in the Olympic women's fifth-place hockey game.

Irina Gashennikova stopped 25 shots for her first shutout of the Games.

Burina knocked in a rebound of her own shot three minutes into the game. She scored again four minutes later when she wristed a shot past goaltender Stephanie Wartosch-Kurten.

Tatiana Tsareva added a second period goal, and Ekaterina Smolentseva capped the scoring in the third period.
