Luongo, then Brodeur, in Canada's net
Goaltender Roberto Luongo will start Canada's opener of the Vancouver Games against Norway on Tuesday, coach Mike Babcock said.
Babcock said Monday he chose to give the start to Luongo over Martin Brodeur because Luongo plays in Vancouver for the NHL's Canucks and the New Jersey Devils' Brodeur has played a lot of minutes this season.
Brodeur will start Canada's second game against Switzerland.
"I thought Louie is from here, I'm playing one of them in both games, and I thought Marty's played a ton of hockey," Babcock said. "I thought this buys him a little time."
All of the men's Olympic games will be played at GM Place (known as Canada Hockey Place during the Olympics for sponsorship reasons), home of the Canucks.
