Frequently Asked Questions

1. Do we need to list all Chapter events now before they occur?
No. The B.A.S.S. Federation Nation Insurance policy automatically provides coverage for: Fishing Tournaments, Events and Junior Fishing Tournaments in which B.A.S.S. Federation Nation Approved By-Laws and Tournament Official Rules and Regulations are adhered to by Member State Federation Nations, Affiliated Clubs and/or Federation Nations.

Other covered activities include:
Award Ceremonies, Banquets, Meetings, Booths at Expos and Fairs and Outdoor shows — including events where there is an admissions charge, and Occasional Fundraising Activities Organized and Operated by Member State Federation Nations, Affiliated Federation Nation Clubs and/or Federation Nations.

2. Will this cover our chapter if we are serving food?
Yes. The insurance also provides coverage for serving food at any sanctioned events

3. Will this cover our chapter if we are serving alcohol?
Yes. The insurance does provide Host Liquor Liability for serving Alcohol at any sanctioned events other than tournaments, provided you are not charging for the alcohol (that's liquor liability, not host liquor liability).

Please Note: If you are serving liquor at an event, please contact Sara Douglass at Leisure Sports Specialist (866-969-1101 or sdouglass@lss-ins.com) regarding your local state laws with respect to Liquor Liability. There may be a need for your chapter to obtain coverage other than host liquor liability for your particular event.

All other events will be subject to Company approval with an additional premium charge.

4. Is this $1,000,000 for each occurrence?
Yes. The limit is for any one occurrence which results in a claim covered by the policy.

5. What is the coverage period for this policy?
January 1 to December 31 of each year.

6. Is there coverage for claims between members?
No. All members are Named Insured by definition of the insurance policy therefore claims between members are not covered. The member may have coverage under their personal Boat, Homeowner, or Auto insurance.

7. What types of claims are covered by this policy?
Claims resulting from Bodily Injury and Property damage to a third party (other than a named insured under the policy).

8. Does this replace my own Boat Liability insurance?
No. This insurance policy in no way replaces your need to carry Boat Liability, Personal Liability or Auto Liability Insurance.

9. If the boat owner who caused the accident is sued for more than his boat liability coverage, will this policy provide the difference?
No. There is no coverage for the boat owner in this policy. This is not an excess coverage for personal liability.

No. Non-Members protection for their actions causing injury or property damage to a 3rd party (including Members) should come under their personal liability provided by their Boat, Homeowners or Auto Liability policy. It is always best to encourage membership in your organization, so that along with all the other benefits of joining, all participants are protected by the insurance policy.
