GADSDEN, Ala.—Sibling rivalry resonated at the Bassmaster CastingKids semifinals, the last turn in the road for advancing the world's top youths to the program's world finals.

The semifinals, held concurrently with the BASS Federation Nation Championship in mid-January, unfolded less than one month from the CastingKids season finale occurring during the Bassmaster Classic.

Canada and its Ontario Federation Nation made big news at the semifinals after both Eastern Division titles in the 7-10 and 11-14 age groups were claimed by Sierra and Shauni Voisin, two sisters from Teeswater, Ontario.

Sierra, 8, scored 130 points to earn the 7-10 Eastern Division title in her age division. Shauni, 12, scored a perfect score of 150 to make her third trip to the finals. Shauni is the 2004 CastingKids 7-10 age division world champion.

Two finalists from the 7-10 and 11-14 age divisions advanced to the championship from each of the Federation Nation's six divisions.

Other finalists from the 7-10 division included the Dylan Monson of Parkson, S.D. (Northern); April Floyd of Okeechobee, Fla. (Southern); Douglas Neary from Crofton, Md., (Mid-Atlantic); David Ashton of Boise, Idaho (Western); and Shea Baumgartner from North Platte, Neb. (Central Division). Baumgartner advanced after surviving a nail-biting three-overtime tie-breaker against division runner-up Kiera Longing of Smackover, Ark.

The other perfect score was claimed by 11-14 division finalist Ryan Bush of Big Stone Gap, Va. (Mid-Atlantic).Other finalists included Nicholas Neidige of Seymour, Ind. (Northern); Jonathon Fleckenstein of Sharpsburg, Ga. (Southern); 2006 world finalist Jori Clark of Richland, Wash. (Western); and Hunter King of North Platte, Neb (Central). Fleckenstein qualified after scoring 40 points in his third cast-off with runner up Hamilton Brown of Plant City, Fla.

In another point of coincidence King and Baumgartner, both Central Division qualifiers, are from the same hometown.

"This program is touching so many lives and not just the contestants," said Stacy Twiggs, senior manager of the Federatio Nation's youth programs. "The neat thing is how the parents, youth directors and presidents and all the other volunteers working behind the scenes are making such a bigger impact on the program. Their outreach, passion and spirit of volunteerism have made a substantial impact on the growth of CastingKids."
