Bassmaster TV producers merge with marketers

ATLANTA — Career Sports & Entertainment, a full service marketing and representation agency, and JM Associates, an outdoor television programming pioneer, are joining forces to create a marketing firm that offers unparalleled opportunities for the brands they grow, personalities they represent and networks they support.

The complementary strengths of CS&E and JM Associates will round out a media services division for the marketing agency that produces interactive and editorial opportunities for the Web. The division will also produce compelling television programming and unique content that can be accessed from wireless phone handsets.

"When you combine the innovation and experience of JM Associates with the depth and talent of CS&E, the result is astounding," said Lonnie Cooper, founder and chief executive officer of CS&E. "Our vision is clear. We have all the right pieces and the talented professionals to redefine sports marketing and media services for our partners and clients."

"This creates a complete agency," said Jerry McKinnis, founder and CEO of JM Associates. "A client can now get the whole package from us, from television content, promotion development and marketing, event marketing, public relations and interactive services. We can do anything they ask of us."

"It's very exciting to have Jerry and his team aligned with CS&E, and they will continue to play a major leadership role in JM Associates, outdoors programming and professional fishing," added Cooper.

A union of history and experience

Founded by Cooper in 1986, Atlanta-based CS&E is a leader in sports representation, marketing integration and media services. The company represents more than 200 athletes, coaches and broadcasters and offers its corporate marketing clients a unique perspective on leveraging sports and entertainment marketing to grow their business. The one-stop shop can integrate campaigns across several disciplines including sponsorship consulting and activation, PR, creative, interactive, property consulting and presence marketing.

Already a leader in developing video content for varied platforms, CS&E has a lengthy history in creating original television programming and has produced shows for the Chick-fil-A Bowl and the Atlanta Falcons, to name a few. The CS&E media services division has also produced award-winning shows and specialty programming for television networks. The company has proven itself a trendsetter in developing video programming that can be accessed via wireless phones, creating content portals for specific interests that enable consumers to access news and information about their favorite sports anywhere.

Jerry McKinnis started producing television in 1963. His company JM Associates grew to be one of the largest producers of outdoor television and forged a relationship with ESPN when it hit televisions in 1980. JM is still ESPN's largest provider in the outdoor category, producing ESPN's first outdoors show, The Fishin' Hole with Jerry McKinnis. After more than 44 years, the show recently celebrated its final season, earning distinction as ESPN's second-longest running program behind SportsCenter.

JM Associates, with a full production studio in Little Rock, has created shows such as The Spanish Fly and Vida del Mar for fishing enthusiasts. They've expanded into motorsports with unique programs such as PIPES and Race Wizard with Ray Evernham. They also manage ESPNOutdoors.com.

The company is a leader in producing compelling competition-based properties, such as the Bassmaster Tournament Trail, Oh Boy! Oberto RedFish Cup, Quiznos MadFin Shark Series and the STIHL Timbersport Series.

Jerry McKinnis will continue to play a vital leadership role at JM Associates and in the world of professional fishing. Jamie Sims, senior vice president of media services, will oversee the operations of JM Associates as part of the media services division of CS&E. Mike McKinnis will serve as the vice president of production, reporting to Sims. Production and administrative offices will remain in Atlanta and Little Rock.
