PINEHURST, N.C. — A little fishing, some shooting and a round of golf at famous Pinehurst Resort.
Those were the venues for the recent Big Rock Sports third annual Shoot-Out Event, which was coordinated to raise funds for the American Sportfishing Association and the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF).
"It far exceeded everyone's expectations," said Gary Zurn, Senior Vice President of Marketing for Big Rock Sports. "With 80-plus people in attendance for the two-day event, everyone had an enjoyable time shooting clays at the Dewitt's Gun Club, golfing at the Pinehurst Golf course, and bass fishing at Pinehurst Lake."
Senior management at the industries top companies also held evening discussions over dinner and cocktails, where they traded ideas and discussed key issues facing the fishing and shooting sports industries.
"The sporting clay, golf and fishing partner auction along with the live auction that featured outstanding hunting and fishing trips, unique collector quality guns, optics, shooting accessories, and other great auction items raised a grand total of $60,000 supporting the ASA and NSSF foundations," Zurn said.
Doug Painter, Senior Advisor and Trade Liaison of the NSSF and Mike Nussman, President and CEO and Gordon Robertson, Vice President of the ASA were on-hand to receive the donation from Big Rock Sports President and CEO Ed Small.
The ASA was formed in 1933 and represents the interests of America's 60 million anglers who generate over $45 billion in retail sales with a $125 billion impact on the nation's economy creating employment for over one million people.
The NSSF is the trade association for the shooting, hunting and firearms industry. Formed in 1961, the foundation is a not-for-profit organization with a membership of more than 4,000 manufacturers, distributors, retailers, sportsmen's organizations and publishers.
