Mercier began logging sports over 31 years ago and has been a STIHL TIMBERSPORTS Series participant for nine years. He became involved because his father was a competitor, and now participates in 15 to 20 events per year. Mercier travels all over the U.S. and Canada, and has made 10 trips Down Under.

TRAINING ROUTINE

"Winter: Inside sawing and chopping training, weight lifting. Summer: Cutting woods on the land with axes and saws; my favorite saw is a STIHL MS 660."

World Champion Two-Man Crosscut with Dave Jewett, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2004, and 2006.

OCCUPATION

Makes saws; files/sharpens saws full-time, including many for TIMBERSPORTS competitors (Jewett, Sullivan, Wynyard, Bolstad, many others).

INTERESTING TIDBIT

"I often play chess between competition heats. I make homemade maple syrup with my father. I also sing in a choir during off season and Christmas time, play guitar and sing with friends."
