Tom Martin
Hometown
Bend, Ore.
Height
6' 3"
Weight
200
Occupation
Professional TIMBERSPORTS competitor and firefighter
Favorite event
Single buck and all chopping events (or whichever event I am currently most successful at)
Training routine
I combine pyramid strength training along with endurance core training, cardiovascular training and chopping/sawing daily, year-round. I would rather be strong with not a lot of bulk, which enables me to be quick and flexible.
Accolades/awards/competitions won
I own six double buck sawing world records, a world championship standing butcher block, two double buck world championships and was privileged enough to be a double hand sawyer on the USA team at the Sydney Royal Easter Show.
Hobbies
I enjoy fishing, hunting, camping, hiking, educating myself, teaching TIMBERSPORTS at Central Oregon Community College, endurance chopping, and enjoying my family.
Interesting fact
I grew up in the Mojave Desert of Southern California and originally taught myself how to chop by watching TIMBERSPORTS on TV while attending college at Cal Poly State University in San Luis Obispo, Calif. I come from a long line of baseball players and actually have a cousin, J.D. Martin, who's a pitcher for the Cleveland Indians program at this time.
