Jereme Houghton, a competitor from the University of Tennessee, talked for a few moments with STIHL TIMBERSPORTS pro Dave Jewett, and was eager for any advice that "The Man" had to offer.



Stephen F. Austin State University always brings a rowdy crowd to STIHL events, but on this day they had their inanimate mascot hold their seats until the competition actually began. This would not be the first time the plywood lumberjack would rear his head. Stay tuned.



After all 16 competitors were signed up, they ran through a litany of photo shoots and talking in front of a TV Camera for the STIHL Collegiate Challenge show that will air soon on ESPN U. Then, the last moment they were all equal rookie competitors passed by. . . The lineup introductions.

Once the 16 competitors were ready to go, the crowd started getting louder and louder. At this point, one of the six timing judges (bottom right) can be seen holding his ears. He was in for a night.
