EDITOR'S NOTE: Knowing that a lot of what happens at live events ends up on the cutting room floor, ESPNOutdoors.com has decided to bring some of the more interesting points via our site. In our new series STIHL Scrapbook you'll see photos and learn more about the competitors and places that make up our event schedule. In one of the first contests of the night, Justin Jacobs from Louisiana Tech celebrates after blowing away "Kwei" Perry in the underhand by a sizable margin. This would turn out to be a habit he formed over the evening. Winning. Quickly.

An intense and exciting moment that occurred a few times during the Southern Conclave was the crowd uniting and rallying behind someone having trouble finishing their cuts to "power them through" until the timer went off. In this instance, Justin Jacobs was leading the troops into cheering on "Kwei" Perry, who'd only used an ax a handful of times before the competition.

Josh Seehorn of the University of Georgia reacts to the TV camera after finishing strongly in his first Collegiate Challenge competiton.
