ESPN Outdoors Saltwater Series features Bassmaster Elite Series' Lane brothers

4/23/2009

Brothers Bobby and Chris Lane, competitors on the Bassmaster Elite Series, headline this weekend's ESPN2 Outdoors programming, as the Central Florida natives are highlighted in the fourth installment of the ESPN Outdoors Saltwater Series presented by TakeMeFishing.org.

The episode, set for Sunday, April 26, at 8:30 a.m. ET, will feature The Redbone Celebrity Tournament from Islamorada, Fla., as the stage and depict the unique lifestyle of saltwater fishing. ESPN Outdoors personality Jose Wejebe will host.

The Lanes were successful in their first saltwater fishing tournament, which featured teams of two anglers and an experienced local guide in pursuit of redfish and bonefish. Chris, who lives in Winter Haven, won the Celebrity Grand Champion title and older brother Bobby, of Lakeland, finished second.

On World's Greatest Fishing Show, a two-team tournament from BASS founder Ray Scott's private lake out of Montgomery, Ala., comes to its conclusion Saturday, April 25, at 8:30 a.m on ESPN2.

Scott tweaks the competition by having the anglers use small electric boats and light spinning reels spooled with 4-pound test line.

ESPN Outdoors personality Mark Zona and four-time Toyota Tundra Bassmaster Angler of the Year Kevin VanDam of Kalamazoo, Mich., team up to defend their title against 2009 Bassmaster Classic champion Skeet Reese of Auburn, Calif., and 2004 Angler of the Year Gerald Swindle of Warrior, Ala. The team with the heaviest accumulated weight will win the six-bass, no-cull event.

The Madfin Shark Series action heats up as the final two teams battle for the 2009 Madfin Shark Series championship, with the first of two parts on Sunday, April 26, at 9 a.m. on ESPN2.

The final episode is set for Sunday, May 3. The shark fishing tournament rewards points to each team for catching the most sharks at more than 5 feet in length.

A Day on the Lake, on Saturday at 8 a.m. on ESPN2, travels to Greer's Ferry Lake in Heber Springs, Ark., where Bassmaster Elite Series pro Fred Roumbanis of Bixby, Okla., has just one day to catch bass on a lake he has never fished.

On Sunday at 7:30 a.m., Going Coastal host Byron Velvick travels to Los Suenos, Costa Rica, in search of roosterfish. The Bassmaster Elite Series pro from Del Rio, Texas, uses local knowledge to assist him in catching this sportfish.

ESPN Outdoors continues to provide the best how-to outdoors programming featuring industry luminaries, experts, athletes and celebrities.
