Morning Line: Round Two

LAS VEGAS After the happy times, the dreamy bulls with long eyelashes and rubber feet of Round One, these guys will wake up to a new and much more sinister world today, where helmets get cracked and riding arms get yanked. That's right; it's Round Two of the PBR World Finals. Some of the world's foremost internal medicine specialists will be in attendance to study the wide variety of gastrointestinal distress that the Round Two bulls have been known to inflict on bull riders.
The Odds-On Round Two favorites
JB Mauney on Troubadour:
Duh... True to his word, J.B. picked to win the round. Troubadour is no day off, but in this pen, he is the Lincoln Continental. Before the round even begins, J.B. will be seen as the man to beat in Round Two, and he won't even need any Pepto Bismol. The only problem is that in a short round of 15, no one is likely to ride a bull that will beat a ride on Troubadour, but with 44 riders and 44 world class bulls, the odds are much better that someone could top it.
Brian Canter on Chicken on a Chain:
Case in point this could top J.B. This rider and bull met in Tallahassee for 89.75 points, but the last three times Chicken was beat, it was for 91.25, 92, and 92.5 points, respectively.
Josh Koschel on Say I Won't Gunner:
Picking near the top in this round sure helps you get a bull that fits you, and Gunner fits Koschel so well he was 91.25 on him the only time they met in Billings '08.
Valdiron De Oliveira on Spitfire:
I never thought I would pick someone to win a round on Spitfire. I mean, everyone talks about how hard this bull is to ride, and no one wants to pick him, etc... Oliveira picked him pretty early in the draft here, and he won the short round at Tulsa on him, so, I'm a believer.
The Round Two honorable mentions
Dustin Elliott on Lucky Strike:
I thought this was the oddest pick in this draft. Dustin has actually been on this bull five times and ridden him once, and is one of only four guys to have ridden this bull out of the 111 times he has been tried. And Dustin rode him on one of the bull's lowest marked trips ever. But he must like something about him, because he's back for more.
Kasey Hayes on Mac-Nett's El Presidente:
Kasey is two-for-two on this bull, for scores of 92 and 89.75. I think they get along.
Ross Coleman on The Game:
Ross had a great start last night, and has another great bull that should fit him here.
Mike Lee on Ricky Bobby:
This is a bull that Mike should probably ride, and if he does, he will have gone around and around more than any other rider here after two bulls.
Robson Palermo on Super Duty:
Super Duty has produced 90 point rides the last three times he was ridden, and he looks like a good fit for Palermo.
Ryan McConnel on Unabomber:
McConnel had a great ride last night, and I thought he could have placed higher than he did, but he got another great bull today that he should be able to handle.
Travis Briscoe on Carrillo Cartel:
Carillo Cartel is a good bull to have in this round and should fit Travis just fine. It may not be enough bull to win the round, but getting a qualified ride in this round is big.
The world leaders
Already mentioned JB... Marchi and Lostroh are in a situation much like last night, where they may not have enough bull to place deep in the round even in this round where you expect fewer to be ridden
Guilherme Marchi on Charmed I'm Sure:
Marchi has ridden him twice before for 86 and 86.5.
Kody Lostroh on Lone Star:
Lone Star sometimes gets marked pretty high, and sometimes 42 to 43, but he hasn't been ridden on one of his best trips, so we'll have to see if he brings it or not.
The 2009 world champion bull race
Before I saw the draft, I'd already decided that if Chris Shivers picked one of the bulls in the running, that I would have to make that bull the favorite. Shivers picked the bull statistically least likely to win it Major Payne. However, since he has Chris on his side, he's now the odds on favorite. Why? Chris Shivers just makes every bull seem better. I can't explain it, but Chris Shivers is to bulls what MSG is to Chinese food. Regardless of the outcome, this will be an exciting matchup to watch. Major Payne is unridden, but I have seen Chris make some great rides on bulls of this type.
