Massa wins final race, loses title by one point and earns a lot of respect

Brazilian Felipe Massa did everything he could to win the F1 title and his home grand prix. He won the race, lost the title by one point, but earned a lot of respect for an outstanding 2008 campaign, writes Dan Knutson.

INTERLAGOS, Brazil -- Massa almost made it.

Felipe Massa didn't manage to snatch the FIA Formula One World Championship away from Lewis Hamilton in the final race of the season in Brazil. But he came so, so close, and had the title in the bag with just a few seconds to go in the race that ended with one of the most exciting champion showdowns in F1 history.
