Jorge Lorenzo breaks collarbone in Assen fall

AMSTERDAM -- Defending MotoGP champion Jorge Lorenzo broke his left collarbone Thursday in a high-speed crash on a rain-slicked track during practice before the Iveco TT in Assen.

Lorenzo, currently second in the standings behind fellow Spaniard Dani Pedrosa, lost control of his Yamaha in afternoon training and was thrown off the motorbike on the Hoge Heide straight.
