Riggs, Baldwin look to 'shock the sport'
CONCORD, N.C. -- Scott Riggs will drive the No. 36 Sprint Cup car for newly-formed Tommy Baldwin Racing in 2009.
"I look forward to building something with Tommy,'' Riggs said on Monday. "He and I have something to prove. Two street fighters fighting the good fight.''
Baldwin recently announced he will field a one-car team. The long-time crew chief plans to have everything in place to compete fulltime, beginning with the opener at Daytona International Speedway next month.
He will serve as Riggs' crew chief.
Riggs drove the No. 66 for Haas CNC Racing last season. He was left without a ride when Tony Stewart took over as co-owner and named himself and Ryan Newman as the drivers.
"Trying to shock the sport,'' Riggs said.
