Crew chief to join Kasey Kahne in '11
FONTANA, Calif. -- Crew chief Kenny Francis will join Kasey Kahne at Red Bull Racing in 2011, Francis and Kahne confirmed to ESPN.com Sunday.
"Of course he's coming," Kahne said with a grin, following a fourth-place finish in the Pepsi Max 400 at Auto Club Speedway.
Francis confirmed the move amid the clanging of wrenches during post-race teardown, but chose not to comment further.
"I'm going, but that's all I want to say right now," he said. Kahne signed a one-year contract with Red Bull, and in 2012 will move to Hendrick Motorsports. Red Bull sources said myriad scenarios -- answers they won't have until later -- will decide Francis' future past 2011. He could stay at Red Bull, or he could go with Kahne to Hendrick, sources said.
Francis took the reins of Kahne's No. 9 car in the 2005 season finale at Homestead, Fla., forming one of the most formidable pairs in the Sprint Cup Series. Since that time they have 10 victories together.
