CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- DeWalt Tools has signed a two-year agreement to become a primary sponsor for the No. 9 Ford driven by Marcos Ambrose of Richard Petty Motorsports in 2011 and 2012, Dewalt and RPM officials announced Monday.
DeWalt joins Stanley Tools as the co-sponsors for Ambrose's car, which will have the DeWalt logo alternate between the hood and quarter panel.
"We've got a lineup of great sponsors for this season,'' Petty said. "We went through some trying times at the end of 2010, but our partners saw the value in our organization and remained committed to us for the future.
"Getting the No. 43 [A.J. Allmendinger with Best Buy as the sponsor] and No. 9 cars to Victory Lane is our number one priority. We have the drive, talent and enthusiasm to do so. We're completely focused on building this organization into a winning race team."
Ambrose joins RPM this season, replacing Kasey Kahne, who was sponsored by Budweiser. Kahne will drive for Red Bull Racing this season before moving to Hendrick Motorsports in 2012. Budweiser now sponsors the No. 29 Chevrolet driven by Kevin Harvick.
NASCAR fans are familiar with the yellow and black DeWalt colors from the company's many years of sponsoring the No. 17 Ford driven by Matt Kenseth.
"DeWalt is well-positioned to re-enter the sport and partner with Richard Petty Motorsports," said Jon Howland, director of brand marketing for Dewalt. "We feel that Richard Petty and his race team will represent our brand well."
