Weather or notNever fails. Auto Club Speedway gets its new fall Sprint Cup date for 2009, and the old date has a forecast of splendid weather for the Pepsi 500. It wasn't cool Friday, a sunny and warm 95 degrees. But a front is expected to blow through Saturday and make things a little more comfortable for the Sunday night race. The weatherman's prediction for Sunday calls for a high of 87 degrees under clear skies. That's lower than the low temperature at ACS one year ago. The sweltering conditions last year for the Labor Day weekend event reached 115 degrees on race day, a big reason that ACS officials worked hard to change the date for the track's second Sprint Cup race each year. ACS worked out a three-way swap with Atlanta and Talladega, moving the Labor Day weekend race to Atlanta while ACS gets Talladega's early October date next season inside the Chase.
