AVONDALE, Ariz. -- Clint Bowyer will replace John Wes Townley Friday night in the Nationwide race at Phoenix International Raceway because Townley was shaken up in a practice session accident Friday morning.

Townley drives the No. 21 Chevrolet for Richard Childress Racing. Townley had no visible injuries, but wasn't feeling 100 percent after the wreck. Townley ranks 17th in the Nationwide standings.

Bowyer will qualify the car Friday afternoon in the backup car.
