Johnson to drive in Truck race for receiver Moss' team
Two-time Sprint Cup champion Jimmie Johnson and NFL receiver Randy Moss will be on the same team on Aug. 20 at the Bristol Motor Speedway. Johnson will drive the No. 81 Chevrolet for Moss' Craftsman Truck Series team in the Bristol, Tenn. event, marking Johnson's first appearance in a Truck race.
"I'm really looking forward to it," Johnson said. "It should be fun. Heck, my brother, Jarit, has run more than me [in Truck races], but it's going to be a good time. I'm excited to run Randy's truck. Hopefully we can get them a good finish."
Moss, an All-Pro receiver for the New England Patriots, purchased 50 percent interest in the Truck team of Morgan-Dollar Motorsport four weeks ago.
Johnson also will compete in the Nationwide Series road race at Watkins Glen, NY on Aug. 9, driving a No. 48 Chevy fielded by JR Motorsports, Dale Earnhardt Jr.'s Nationwide team.
Johnson never has won at Bristol or Watkins Glen, so he hopes the additional seat time of competing in the two feeder leagues will help him get to Victory Lane in the Cup race at those tracks.
