Burkhart, Henry win Supermoto races in Nashville
NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Graves Motorsports teammates Mark Burkhart and Doug Henry won races Saturday night in the AMA Supermoto Championship at the Music City Motorplex.
Burkhart, from Pickerington, Ohio, pulled away to a 10.2-second victory in the first race. Series leader Jeff Ward of Newport Beach, Calif., finished second and Australian Troy Herfoss was third.
In the second race, Burkhart again sprinted to an early lead, but his Yamaha broke on lap 10 and he coasted to a stop. That gave the lead to Henry, the former AMA Motocross Champion from Torrington, Conn.
Ward tumbled on the final turn while trying to pass Henry on the last lap. He pushed his bike across the finish line to finish third behind teammate Chris Fillmore.
Going into the series final on Nov. 5 in Long Beach, Ward needs only to finish third or better to clinch the championship.
