MARTINSVILLE, Va. -- Jack Sprague won his 29th career pole position in NASCAR's Craftsman Truck Series on Friday with a lap at 95.675 mph at Martinsville Speedway.

The pole is just the second of the season for the three-time series champion and moved him within one of Mike Skinner's career record for the series.

Skinner qualified second, but well behind at a speed of 94.965 mph. The second row will have Ted Musgrave, giving Toyota the top three spots, and Marcos Ambrose in a Ford.

Sprague has never won on the 0.526-mile oval in 12 truck series starts.

Saturday's Kroger 200 will be the 21st of 25 races in the series and will start with Todd Bodine holding a 113-point advantage over Johnny Benson in what has become a two-driver race for the championship. Benson leads No. 3 David Reutimann by 142 points.

Bodine qualified seventh at 94.571 mph, and Benson will start 21st (94.027).
