Latino drivers finish strong in Mexico Busch qualifying
MEXICO CITY -- Scott Pruett won the pole followed closely by three Latino drivers for Sunday's Telcel-Motorola 200, the third race south of the border in NASCAR's Busch Series.
Pruett averaged 103.647 mph on his fastest lap Saturday in the No. 41 Dodge on the curvy, 2.518-mile course.
Just behind him was Mexico City native Carlos Contreras who finished at 103.407 mph in the No. 22 Dodge.
Colombian Juan Pablo Montoya, who jumped from Formula One to NASCAR last season, finished third at 103.391 mph in his No. 42 Dodge. Montoya finished first in Friday's practice and blamed changes in his car for his third place.
Mexican Jorge Goeters, who won the pole here in 2005, finished fourth at 103.203 in his No. 27 Ford.
