Adidas to create Dale Jr.'s racing suit, other clothing products
PORTLAND, Ore. -- Adidas and Dale Earnhardt Jr. announced plans Friday to launch a full line of Dale Jr. footwear, apparel and accessories.
The multi-year partnership is the first NASCAR-related deal for Adidas.
Adidas designers will work with Earnhardt to create a new racing suit and technical driving shoes for the NASCAR star, as well as off-track footwear and fan apparel.
"Dale Jr. is an American icon and this is a great opportunity for Adidas to extend our brand," said Mark Clinard, business director for motor sports at Adidas America, which is based in Portland.
The Dale Jr. line will roll out beginning in February 2008.
Adidas said the company will work with Earnhardt on "creating the next generation of technical driving products for NASCAR," such as the opportunity to add technical features, such as use of its cooling fabrics, to racing products.
