TALLADEGA, Ala. -- Reigning series champion Todd Bodine took the pole position for the NASCAR Craftsman Truck race at Talladega Superspeedway, beating out three-time champion Jack Sprague in Friday's qualifying.
Bodine turned a fast lap of 181.811 mph, while Sprague was close behind at 181.639. It is Bodine's second pole of the season but only the third of his 85-race truck career.
Mike Skinner, who leads Ron Hornaday Jr. by just three points in the season standings, qualified eighth. Hornaday was 13th.
Former open-wheel star Jacques Villeneuve, who will make only his second truck start in Saturday's race, qualified 10th, while Nextel Cup star Kyle Busch was 29th in the 36-truck lineup.
