Crafton wins first career Truck pole
LOUDON, N.H. -- Matt Crafton will be on the pole for the first time in his career for Saturday's Craftsman Truck Series Sylvania 200 at New Hampshire International Speedway.
Crafton's No. 88 Chevrolet circled the 1.058-mile flat paved oval in a track record 29.567 seconds (128.819 miles per hour).
The former record of 29.637 seconds was set in September 2004 by Jack Sprague.
Last year's runner-up here, Sprague qualified 31st in a Chevrolet on Saturday morning.
Brandon Whitt will be in the first row with Crafton after posting a time of 29.591 seconds in his Toyota.
Truck Series points leader Dennis Setzer qualified sixth with a speed of 29.821 seconds in a Chevrolet.
Ted Musgrave, who trails Setzer by 49 points with seven races left, qualified 22nd in a Dodge.
Mike Skinner, the winner of the last two events, will start seventh in a Toyota.
Defending champion Travis Kvapil is participating in the NASCAR Sylvania 300 this weekend.
