Simona De Silvestro taken to hospital
WEST ALLIS, Wis. -- IndyCar driver Simona De Silvestro was taken to a hospital after she crashed during qualifying at the Milwaukee Mile.
A series spokesperson says De Silvestro is awake and alert, but is being transported by ground to Froedtert Hospital for further evaluation. She spun and slammed the wall hard during her qualifying run, then went skidding backward into the inside wall.
Last month, De Silvestro burned her hands in a crash during Indianapolis 500 practice. She has been driving with bandages.
