Lucas, Capps grab top qualifying spots
MADISON, Ill. -- Morgan Lucas took the top spot in Top Fuel qualifying Saturday in the O'Reilly Midwest Nationals at Gateway International Raceway.
Two qualifying rounds were held Saturday after rain wiped out qualifying for all classes except for Pro Stock Motorcycle on Friday.
Ron Capps, Greg Stanfield and Andrew Hines also topped their divisions.
Lucas, coming off of his first career win in Atlanta two weeks, drove his Top Fuel dragster to a 3.881-second run at 307.02 mph.
In Funny Car, Capps drove to a 4.111-second pass at 298.80 mph to take the top spot. Stanfield led Pro Stock with a run of 6.573 at 210.37.
Hines topped Pro Stock Motorcycle field, setting a national elapsed time record with his pass of 6.860 seconds at 192.14.
