Dixon fastest in Top Fuel qualifying
NORWALK, Ohio -- Larry Dixon raced to the provisional No. 1 qualifier in Top Fuel at the NHRA Nationals at Summit Racing Equipment Motorsports Park on Friday night.
Mike Neff (Funny Car), Allen Johnson (Pro Stock) and Matt Guidera (Pro Stock Motorcycle) also were top qualifiers at the 12th of 24 events on the NHRA Drag Racing Series.
Dixon drove his Alan Johnson Al-Anabi Racing dragster to a 3.882-second pass at a top speed of 301.74 mph. If it stands through Saturday's qualifying it would be Dixon's third No. 1 qualifier of the season, 34th of his career and a first at Summit Racing Equipment Motorsports Park.
Neff drove his Ford Drive One Mustang to a 4.190 seconds at 297.73. If it stands, it would be Neff's first No. 1 qualifier of the season and third of his career.
Johnson drove his Mopar Dodge Stratus to a run of 6.649 seconds at 206.99 mph. It would be his first No. 1 qualifier of the season and seventh of his career.
Guidera rode his Mohegan Sun Rocklin Motorsports Buell to 7.001 at 187.11.
Qualifying continues Saturday and eliminations are Sunday.
