KENT, Wash. -- Antron Brown beat Tony Schumacher by 0.008 seconds to take the Top Fuel final at the NHRA Northwest Nationals at Pacific Raceways Sunday.
Tim Wilkerson (Funny Car) and Mike Edwards (Pro Stock) were the other winners at the 14th of 24 races in the NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series.
Brown won for the fourth time this season and extended his lead to 137 points over Schumacher with his 3.985-second pass (0.079 reaction time) at a top speed of 301.07 mph to Schumacher's 3.990 (0.082 RT) at 300.00.
Schumacher was bidding for his fifth win this season and fourth straight at Pacific Raceways.
"When you race Tony Schumacher, six-time champion, and you get the better of him by eight-thousandths that is just a sensational, phenomenal drag race right there," Brown said. "And it feels good to be on the right side of it."
Wilkerson picked up his first win of the year -- after a career-high six wins last year -with a 4.211 at 291.01 to Tony Pedregon's 4.283 at 289.57. Wilkerson moved up from seventh to fifth place in the Funny Car standings.
