In May 1999, Elvis fell during practice and broke his collarbone. While he recovered from the injury, he weighed the decision of whether to turn professional or not. He decided to remain eligible, and to leave long-time coach Doug Leigh to train with his choreographer, Uschi Keszler, in the Philadelphia area.
The collarbone injury has healed completely. Elvis says that the groin injury that troubled him for most of 1998 is now healed and he is "back at 100 percent."
