SEOUL, South Korea American Yvonne Caples was one of four international female boxers to lose to a host North Korean on Tuesday.
Caples, a Las Vegas fighter who has had to travel the globe to find bouts, lost a unanimous decision to Choi Eun Soon in a mini-flyweight bout in Pyongyang, the North Korean capital.
North Korea's official Korean Central News Agency also said bantamweight Kim Kwang Ok won a unanimous decision over Shiro Morimoto of Japan, and that super flyweight Ryu Myung Ok knocked out Elizabeth Sanchez of Mexico 50 seconds into the second round. North Korean Han Yon Soon won a unanimous decision over South Korea's Han Min-joo in a light flyweight bout.
Caples (7-9-2) also has lost bouts in Guam, Japan, Trinidad, South Korea and Germany. An English teacher who started boxing at the University of California, she has had trouble lining up fights in the United States.
