Jr. featherweight prospect Oliver outpoints Seeger

UNCASVILLE, Conn. -- Undefeated Hartford, Conn., fighter Mike Oliver unanimously outpointed Al Seeger Thursday night.

The judges at the Mohegan Sun scored it 116-111, 115-112 and 114-113 for Oliver, who claimed a minor title.

It was the eighth consecutive win by decision for Oliver (21-0, 7 KOs).

Seeger, from Savannah, Ga., dropped to 27-3.

Against Seeger, the 27-year-old Oliver overcame an accidental head butt that nearly closed his right eye in the first round. It didn't keep Oliver from being the aggressor. He dominated the fight, wobbling Seeger, 27, with a straight left midway through the sixth. Oliver rocked Seeger with a right hand near the end of the round.

Oliver snapped Seeger's head back with a straight left in the eighth. Oliver kept applying the pressure, but Seeger survived the round without getting knocked down. In the 10th, Seeger had a point taken away for a low blow.
