Kirilov draws with Santos, retains 115-pound title

NEW YORK -- Dimitri Kirilov of Russia earned a 12-round majority draw against Cecilio Santos of Mexico to defend his IBF junior bantamweight title at the Roseland Ballroom on Thursday night.

Kirilov, 113 pounds, cut Santos, 115, over both eyes with left-right combinations, but there were no knockdowns.

Kirilov is 29-3-1. Santos is 22-8-3.

Judges John Epstein and Kevin Morgan called it 114-114, while Bob Gilson had it 116-112 for Kirilov.

Undefeated Dmitry Salita of Ukraine and now living in New York, knocked out Fabian Luque of Mexico at 45 seconds of the fifth round of a scheduled 10-rounder.

Salita, 144 pounds, got his sixth knockout and is 28-0-1. Luque, 145, fell to 21-7-5.

Unbeaten Jorge Turon of New York stopped Sandro Marcos of Mexico at 2:41 of the fifth round of a scheduled 10-round NABO lightweight championship fight.

Turon is 20-0-1 with 13 KOs, while Marcos is 28-17-2.

In a women's bout, Eileen Olszewski of New York earned a unanimous 10-round decision over Elena Reid of Phoenix to take away the WIBA flyweight title. Olszewski, 110, who has yet to register a knockout, is 5-0-1, while Reid, 111 3/4, fell to 19-4-5.
