Cruiserweight world champion Tomasz Adamek will make his first title defense on Feb. 27 at the Prudential Center in Newark, N.J., Jolene Mizzone of Main Events told ESPN.com on Thursday night.

The fight will be the main event of a special edition of Showtime's "ShoBox: The New Generation," Mizzone said.

Adamek's opponent has not been determined, but B.J. Flores (21-0-1, 13 KOs) has been in talks with the cruiserweight champion's promoter, Main Events, about the fight for the past few weeks. Main Events has given Flores a Friday deadline to make a decision.

Adamek (36-1, 24 KOs), 32, a native of Poland who lives in New Jersey, drew a wild crowd to the Prudential Center for his Dec. 11 fight against Steve Cunningham. He defeated Cunningham via split decision to win the title in one of the most action-packed fights of 2008.

Adamek, a former light heavyweight titleholder, moved up to cruiserweight after suffering his only loss via decision to Chad Dawson in February 2007. He has won all five of his bouts in the division, culminating with a three-knockdown performance against Cunningham.

Flores, 29, established himself as a contender when he won a unanimous decision against Darnell "Ding-A-Ling Man" Wilson in an upset in February 2008 on ESPN2's "Friday Night Fights." Flores, however, has not fought since.
