Johnson wins lopsided bout over Judah
HOLLYWOOD, Fla. -- Former light-heavyweight champion Glen Johnson won a convincing unanimous decision over Daniel Judah on Friday night, possibly putting himself in line for another title shot.
Johnson, who turned 40 on Jan. 2, stayed busy through 10 rounds and used effective body punching to win a landslide decision in a rematch of an April 2003 bout that ended in a draw.
Two judges scored the fight for 99-90 for Johnson, while the third had Johnson winning 99-89.
Johnson (49-12-2) set the tone early with solid rights to the body. Late in the first round, he floored Judah with a right to the head for the fight's only knockdown.
A native of Jamaica who now lives in Miami, Johnson maintained a busier pace in the second round, scoring with rights to the body and head and briefly stopped Judah in his tracks with a right uppercut.
Judah finally found his distance in the fourth, but Johnson was never really hurt and rallied back in the sixth, scoring with left hooks to the body before landing a couple solid rights to the head in the closing seconds.
Johnson again kept Judah on the retreat in the seventh, and the two fighters clashed heads in the 10th. Judah was given time to recover, but when the fight resume Johnson chased the New York fighter to the ropes and landed a few more combinations to the body.
