Williams upsets Margarito for WBO belt

CARSON, Calif. -- Paul Williams won the WBO welterweight title with an upset victory over champion Antonio Margarito on Saturday night.

Williams (33-0) was hurt several times in the 11th round and was cut over the left eye. He was ahead on all three scorecards, 115-113, 115-113, and 116-112.

Margarito (34-5) was trying to defend his title for the seventh time. He fell far behind after six rounds then rallied, but fell just short.
