Williams overcomes serving woes to reach Bangkok Open quarterfinals
BANGKOK -- Second seed Venus Williams eased into the quarterfinals of the Bangkok Open with a comfortable 6-4, 6-1 win over Thailand's Tamarine Tanasugarn on Thursday.
Playing her second match in three hot and humid hours, the Wimbledon champion overpowered the hard-hitting Thai in 75 minutes to set up a meeting in the final eight with unseeded Frenchwoman Camille Pin.
