PARIS -- Top-seeded Serena Williams reached the second round of the French Open with a 7-6 (2), 6-2 win over Stefanie Voegele of Switzerland.

Williams had 10 aces and three service winners late in the tiebreak. The 12-time Grand Slam champion also saved three break points late in the first set Monday.

Williams said she was displeased with her performance but declined to discuss specifics.
