The great Thomas Boswell wrote a book a long time ago called "Why Time Begins on Opening Day." It's a wonderfully written series of essays about baseball that still hold up more than 25 years later, which is not surprising. Boswell writing a grocery list is better than 99 percent of the writers out there, myself certainly included. But it's also because baseball, at its core, is timeless.
